12 more entrepreneurs join Abundant Water in fight against contaminated water!

For many people around the world, 2020 was a year they’d rather forget. Although new health challenges have presented themselves in the last 12 months, many more existing ones remained in the background.

Despite this, 12 more people joined the fight against contaminated water in Timor-Leste! Travelling to Dili from Liquica, Manufahi, Viqueque, Bobonaro, Aileu, Cova Lima, Manatuto and Ainaro municipalities, a range of new entrepreneurs covered large distances to commit to bringing clean water to their local communities.

Through Abundant Water’s training, the 12 new vendors learnt the importance of clean water, what ceramic water filters are and how to use them, what the advantages of ceramic water filters are, the principles of social business and received an introduction to Abundant Water's vendor network in East Timor. To finish, each vendor also completed a business plan for how they can best promote water filters within their local communities. Through these self-made business plans and guidance from Abundant Water’s team, each vendor will work to develop their micro-enterprise to ensure their business continues to be successful and self sufficient, even within a global pandemic!

In 2021, Abundant Water will continue to work with FOKUPERS to find motivated members of Timor-Leste’s communities to bring our work into new areas of the country.

Following this training, Abundant Water now has at least 1 vendor in 12 of Timor-Leste’s 13 provinces! Clean water is therefore now more accessible, more convenient and cheaper for families to obtain.

This training was made possible through the support of Australian Ethical Investments, the US Embassy of Dili, FOKUPERS and the Rotary Club of Hall. Thank you!
