Hitting the ground running: Abundant Water signs new project in Timor-Leste with the ANU and EWB

The beginning of the year saw Abundant Water start with a bang, signing a new project funded by DFAT in partnership with the Australian National University and Engineers Without Borders. (EWB)

The project aims to bring clean water to schools and communities from around the Baucau and Manatuto districts of Timor-Leste, with an expected distribution of 1000 filters and a beneficiary total of 8-9,000 individuals! We will also train 18 local Timorese men and women to run their own micro-businesses selling new and replacement filters within these districts, which aims to create a self-sustaining project after this partnership finishes.

Since signing, we've hit the ground running! We have undertaken 4 school installations in the districts of Baucau and Manatuto, and trained 18 vendors to begin selling within their districts. We've already reached 560 students through these installations, and we expect to reach many more schools across Timor-Leste as the year progresses. Keep an eye on our Instagram for more real-time updates!
